FONTAINE

one evening in may, while steve and i were on our lunch break, heading for mcd's, we ran into this huge hunk of aluminum in the middle of the engineering fountain. as you can imagine, we stared slackjawed. it was twice my height. perhaps it had fallen from the sky. a dud of a bomb?

i took some pictures.

we found out later that it was a "mock-up cylinder." we had walked in on an outdoor meeting of the fountain committee.

when the Exponent reported in mid-June that the cylinder was the solution of choice to the fountain fiasco, i sent my photos into the paper. since then they have been published twice in the Exponent, once in the J&C, and were shown on the evening news on WLFI 18.
